“ Don’t miss this! Chef cooks right in front of you and serves what tastes like home-cooked comforting but elevated meals. Intimate environment and affordable for such great quality food and drink. ”
“ One of the best meals of our trip, the steak was cooked to perfection and the salad was delicious. The bamboo soup was a great starter. The restaurant is very cozy and the chef keeps his kitchen extremely clean. I highly recommend! ”
“ If there is a queue - it is 100% worth waiting!!! This place is amazing. Only one man is cooking, serving and making drinks yet the food is delicious and served quickly. Recommend the set meal beef stew and omelette rice, the side dishes were sooo good! ”
“ He was one of the friendliest and most talented chefs we met during our time in Japan. It’s hard to believe some of the negative reviews claiming he was rude to foreigners. Perhaps those interactions were misunderstood or influenced by how he was approached ”
“ Been in Japan for 4 days and this is the BEST food I’ve had. The food was absolutely PERFECT. Highly recommend the Beef dish, and the Fried Oysters. The meat was cooked to perfection and so delicious, the oysters were perfectly fried, and the salad and potato salad, and soup it came with was amazing. I highly recommends hope you enjoy! ”
“ Stop. Don’t go anywhere else in Kyoto. Come here. Food was incredible. Small counter seats 11 or 12. Amazing food. All cooked right in front of you. Amongst the best we’ve had in Japan and VERY reasonably priced. ”
“ We came to this restaurant for our final evening in Kyoto and were exceptionally pleased. Note that the venue is cash only and only has around a dozen seats. While we were able to walk in without a wait on a weekday evening, we did eat quite early - reservations may be required normally. Menu was subtitled in English, and a set meal item with alcoholic drink only came to 2500 yen. Food was prepared in front of us, and the cook/owner was very friendly. The food itself was phenomenal, the soup was dense and flavourful without being too heavy/large of a portion. Salad was fresh and vibrant, and the curry and rice was wonderfully aromatic and perfectly spiced. The whole meal was portioned out great and we left satiated! ”
“ My partner and I both felt this was the best food we had eaten in Japan so far. I had the Omurice and my partner had the sirloin steak. We both were super pleased with our choices and would go back, given the opportunity! As other people noted, this restaurant has very limited seating and is cash only. ”
